The Dunedin Fringe Festival is the world’s southernmost festival of its kind. Initiated in 2000, Dunedin Fringe aims to bring experimental contemporary art to a wider audience and to support the work of emerging artists. Dunedin Fringe is an annual event which happens every March timed to coincide with other fringe festivals in New Zealand and Australia. The 2020 festival will run between 19 - 29 March.
Kicked off in style by the hugely popular Polson Higgs Opening Night Showcase on March 18. And for the first time, Fringe is coming to the Octagon with a fun-filled family-friendly street party on Saturday March 21 which falls on International Race Relations Day.
This big birthday bash will showcase a smorgasbord of Fringe performances, and performance and gourmet offerings from the many diverse community groups that call Ōtepoti home, thanks to a partnership with the Dunedin Multi-Ethnic Council.
The Emersons Festival Club will also be open for the duration of the festival, providing a hub to socialise and enjoy a curated selection of Fringe acts.
Come and celebrate, as we kick up our heels and toast 20 years of Fringe Fever in Dunedin!
